Carreg Fawr farmhouse, stockyard & outbuildings: one of the 'model farms' built on Bardsey Island, Gwynedd, 1870-75 by Lord Newborough.

Carreg Fawr farmhouse, stockyard & outbuildings: one of the 'model farms' built on Bardsey Island 1870-75 by Lord Newborough. Artist & writer Brenda Chamberlain lived on Bardsey 1947-61, mainly in Carreg farmhouse; she described her experiences in the book Tide-race published in 1962. Later in the century Sister Helen Mary spent 15 years living as a hermit in Carreg's former granary store (Llofft Carreg Fawr, far L). It is typical of island weather that sea frets, fog & heavy rain blow in and then blow out again.
