Following a sumptuous repast the speaking program commenced, Presi- dent Theodore Ewoldt officiating as toastmaster. President Foley, who told of several ways in which the profes- sion might be advertised; J. C. Vaughan, who complimented the local association on the harmony prevailing among the members; Michael Barker, who told of the activities of the florists' publications in promoting greater harmony among flower growers, and "Wesley Green, of Des Moines, formerly of Davenport, and one of the oldest florists in the state, were the speakers from outside of the Tri-Cities. J. S. Wilson, of Des Moines, one of the speakers expected, was un- able to be present. J. W. Davis, John T. Temple and President Ewoldt were among the local speakers. The floral decorations were among the most elaborate and beautiful seen here in many years, all of the mem- bers of the association sending dona- tions of their best flowers and many floral firms outside of the Tri-Cities hav- ing exhibits. The tables, at which cov- ers were laid for over fifty, were ar- ranged in the form of a horseshoe and so crowded with flowers that there was scarcely room for the service. Note- worthy among the exhibits of outside florists was that of Baur & Steinkamp, Indianapolis, who displayed St. Nicholas 'Carnation. Following the banquet and the speak- ing, dancing was enjoyed.
