The Norman Romanesque Cathedral Church of Christ, Blessed Mary the Virgin and St Cuthbert of Durham, commonly known as Durham Cathedral is home to the Shrine of St Cuthbert. The present cathedral in the city of Durham, England, replaced the 10th century "White Church", a monastic foundation housing the shrine of Saint Cuthbert of Lindisfarne. Its treasures include relics of St Cuthbert, the head of St Oswald of Northumbria and the remains of the Venerable Bede. Its Library contains one of the most complete sets of early printed books in England and three copies of Magna Carta
