It has two wheels on each rail, with a wheel base of Inc., of Middletown, Pa., and are of the 18-in. hinge-sidegondola pattern, equipped with four Westinghouse motors of40-hp each, and with the Christensen air brake. The carsare 38 ft. 6 ins. in length over all, and 7 ft. 10 ins. wide. Theyare equipped with the Peckham standard M. C. B. truck, with31-in. wheels, and the trucks have the Peckham combination. RAISING THE COVERS FROM THE BINS JUST BEFORE THEY ARE DUMPED side frames, double-roller side-bearings, flexible motor sus-pension and the Taylor non-chattering brake hanger. Instead,however, of a timber post in the center of the car for thetrolley carrier, a cast-iron post is employed with the fuse underneath the car. This departure was necessary toobviate the care that would otherwise have to be exercisedin lifting and lowering the bins close to the post. Four binsare shipped by each car, and the total load is 26 tons, 6 tons
