Thisportion of the building is being restored at the presenttime. The original Church was erected in the tenth cen-tury, and was dedicated to St. Peter. The present Nave and west front were completed about the end of thetwelfth century, and a Lady Chapel was erected aboutthe same period, but has since been destroyed. TheNave measures 265 feet long by 80 feet wide; the Choir,163 feet long; Transept, 184 feet long.
