Mural of a Nereid sea nymph supported by a monster, half panther and half fish. Museo Naz. XXII, Stabiae. Illustration drawn by Discanno and lithographed by Victor Steeger from Emile Presuhn's "Choix des plus Belles et Interessantes Peintures de Pompei," Weigel, Leipzig, 1882. German archeologist Presuhn (1844-1881) lived in Italy for eight years and, with Mr. Discanno, made exact copies of many wall paintings that are now lost.
