William Henry Sebrell, Jr. (1901-1992), US nutritionist. Sebrell, usually known as Henry, served in the United States Public Health Service from 1925 to 1955. Here, he is working in a laboratory of the US National Institutes of Health. From 1957, he worked at the Institute of Nutrition Sciences, Columbia University, New York, USA. Sebrell was a pioneer in vitamin research and an international authority on nutrition. His published works included co-authoring 'Food and Nutrition' (1967). This photograph, from around 1940, is from the Harris and Ewing Collection, which mostly consists of photographs taken in Washington DC, USA.
