c1900- An old postcard showing Flowergate, Whitby, North Yorkshire, UK at that time. The Little Angel pub is seen to the right. Across the road is the shop of Spanton's gentlemans Outfitters, and in the distance can be seen Whitby Abbey. (all are still there). The stone horse mounting block (front right) is still in place but has been badly damaged by modern traffic. The Abbey Inn in foreground, attached to the Little Angel is now (in 2019) a branch of the Yorkshire Building Society.
