Bone death. Coloured X-ray of the pelvic girdle of a patient suffering from osteonecrosis (bone death). The head of the right femur (lower left) has collapsed. This tissue death (necrosis) is caused by an impaired blood supply, which may have resulted from an injury or disease. Treatment is directed by the cause of the osteonecrosis, in this case a replacement of the femoral head will be required for the patient to regain full mobility.
