Rash on the head and scalp in an 83 year old female patient, from shingles affecting the trigeminal nerve (cranial V), ten days after onset. Shingles, or herpes zoster, is a disease caused by the varicella-zoster virus which infects and damages nerves (neuralgia). Typically it recurs causing intense pain and skin blistering.
