His means having been exhausted, he wassent to the poor house. He remained there for amonth and, on recovery, crossed the river into Can-ada and engaged in cutting cord wood and splittingrails. He remained in Canada, variously occupied,until t86i, when he came to this State and countyand located on an 80-acre tract of land. He hadgreat faith in the future development of this county.
