In each year, especially in the first two, some timeis given to memorizing short quotations and longerpoems, both for their influence upon the studentsEnglish and for their moral and spiritual content. The work in voice culture is for the correction ofindistinct enunciation, careless articulation, and wrongpronunciation. Incidentally, phonic exercises are in-tended to help the spelling.
