Sir Gaetan Duval Esplanade Situated right behind the bus station, the Sir Gaetan Duval Esplanade at the Mahebourg Waterfront is one of our most iconic and famous attractions in Mauritius. It is an ideal place for those who love a long walkway by the sea. The Esplanade is where you can learn more about the battle of Grand Port: an important event that has marked our history. A memorial has been built in memory of the fallen soldiers of that time, along with a nautical map for a time-travelling experience. On your way, a beautiful kiosk awaits at the end of a quay. From there, you can spot the iconic island of the “Mouchoir Rouge” while fishing boats go their way.
