Luxor, Egypt. The Karnak Temple Complex, commonly known as Karnak, comprises a vast mix of decayed temples, pylons, chapels, and other buildings near Luxor, Egypt. In the Central Court beyond the Third Pylon there were formerly four obelisks, two of them set up by Tuthmosis I and two by Tuthmosis II. One of these obelisks is still standing, together with the bases of the other three. It is meters high and is estimated to weigh 143 tons. 26th March 2013. DavidSmith/ AlamyContributor
