Springtime is here and the busy sea- son has opened with a rush. The de- mand for greenhouse and nursery stock is much heavier than usual, but the big problem is help, which is becoming scarcer every day. One large nursery firm is building a camp and is about to bring colored help from the south to relieve the situation. The Storrs & Harrison Co. has fin- ished sending out its spring wholesale list. The Carl Hagenburger Co., of Paines- ville, and Merkle & Son, of Mentor, O., have excellent Easter stock and are booking orders. C. C. Hallinan has recently pur- chased more land to be used in grow- ing perennials, etc. The Wayside Gardens, Mentor, O., have been busy for the last two weeks sending out their trade catalogue to customers. Martin Kohankie has acted in the capacity of first aid for automobilists who got snowbound opposite his land on Mentor avenue. R. A. Hacker, who makes a specialty of propagating hard-wood cuttings and growing transplanting stock, intends to increase his output to double its pres- ent volume this coming season in order to meet the demands in this line.
