He seems, in fact, to well represent thatold adage, the longer they wait, the harder they fall. Practical, sensible if somewhat conservative, thoughtful but always cheerful andeven-tempered, Hawkshaw is one of those dependable, open-hearted fellowswhom all of us regard with the highest esteem.
