Participant wear masks to protect their identity, at 'Himote Valentine' event, Tokyo, Japan

Participant wear masks to protect their identity, and to shield their shyness, in the 'Himote Valentine' event held in the early hours of St. Valentine's Day, at Loft/Plus One in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan, Saturday 14th February 2009. The event, attended by approximately 100 people, was billed as an opportunity for 'lonely people to be in the company of other lonely people', to have a drink and to relax. The event was organised by Hiroyuki Egami, founder of 'Himote SNS' - a networking website, with 15,000 members, for those who are uninterested in relationships, or those who are shy and have difficulty communicating with others.
