Combine harvesters. Combine harvesters and a tractor working in a wheat field. Wheat, Triticum sp., is the most important crop in the world, and is largely used to make flour. The harvester has a paddlewheel on its front which turns and pushes the crop against a cutting bar. The crop enters the harvester and is threshed (beaten) to separate the grain from the rest of the plant.
