Business is at a standstill with plenty of all kinds of flowers on hand. Whole- salers, retailers and growers are all com- plaining of dullness, and don't seem to know what the trouble is. The fine weather we are experiencing no doubt has hurried the flowers along much ahead of their time, especially chrysanthemums, and the daily receipts being far greater than the outlet trouble lollows naturally. The collapse came about the middle of last week, since which there have been practically no quotable values on any- thing. But roses and violets took the greatest tumble, the highest price obtain- able for the best type of American Beauty rose being but $10 a hundred, and many that had accumulated going at half that price. The decline in violet values was unexpected by theoperators, being some- thing unheard of at this date, and all the more surprising because the growers are picking thus far only about half a crop owing to the warm weather.
