Bengal tiger in the bush in Kanha National Park Madhya Pradesh India
This picture was taken from an elephant's back while on safari in Kanha National Park. The park is romanticised by Rudyard Kipling in The Jungle Book and the Bengal Tiger – Panthera tigris tigris or Panthera tigris bengalensis – made it into popular imagination by virtue of his character Shere Khan. The park is home to just over 130 Bengal Tigers.
