Netherlands/Belgium: 'Maria and Child with the Saints Jacob and Dominicus giving Presents'. Oil on oak wood painting by Hans Memling (c. 1433-1494), c. 1485-1490. Hans Memling/Memlinc was a German-Flemish painter from the Early Netherlandish tradition of painting. Born in the Middle Rhine, he apprenticed in the Netherlands and spent time in Brussels. In 1465 he became a citizen of Bruges, becoming one of the leading artists and master of a large workshop. He became one of the city's wealthiest citizens.
