The work of destruc-tion was prosecuted vigorously duiing the night and all nextday. Over twelve miles of track were torn up, the ties burned,rails heated, bent and twisted and cuts tilled with earth, logs,rocks and loaded shells. August 80th, the marcli was resumed, Howard movingtowards Jonesboro, Scholield towards Rough and Ready andThomas in the center to Couchs.
