Historic Coldren Opera House appears at the right edge of this image from about 1910. The view looks east along College from its intersection with Clinton Street in Iowa City, Iowa. The Coldren venue was the principal predecessor to Englert Theatre as the host of live performances in Iowa City from its opening during 1872 until its demise with opening of Macbride Auditorium on the University of Iowa campus during 1908 and the Englert during 1912. The gently curving line through the sky is an overhead electric wire that provided power to trolley cars of the CRandIC Railway's Interurban service
