sunny Labour Day in year hundreds of people meet to celebrate Labour Day in Trieste, a city on the Italian-Slovenian border. In the afternoon, a big, open-air festival, with music, roast meat and drinks, takes place at Opicina. On the 1st of May, 1945, the Partizan troops from Yugoslavia, together with the Italian Partizans, liberated Trieste from the nazi-fascists, entering Italy at Opicina. For that reason, Labour Day is celebrated by Italian and Slovenian people together and choirs and music bands from Italy and Slovenia sing both Italian and Slovenian partizan songs.
