Thus perished William Boyd, a young officer of heroic virtue and of rising talents ;and in a manner that will touch the sympathies of all who read the story of his death. Hisfellow-soldier, and fellow-sufferer, Parker, was obliged to witness this moving and tragicalscene, and in full expectation of passing the same ordeal. According, however, to our in-formation, in relation to the death of these two men, which has been obtained incidentallyfrom the Indian account of it, corroborated by the discovery of the two bodies by theAmerican army, Parker was only Western view of Mount Morris village, Livingston county. Mount Morris village, incorporated in 1835, is at the head of theboat navigation on Genesee river, 36 miles S. of Rochester, and bythe Genesee valley canal 38|, from Geneseo SW. 6 miles. The siteis beautiful, being elevated above the fertile flats which border theriver. The annexed view was taken near the residence of Mr. Jo-seph Starkey. The three churches seen in front are respectivelythe Episcopal, Baptist, and Methodist; the spire on the left is that ofthe Presbyterian church.
