A portrait of Arthur Henderson (1863-1935), President / Chairman of The League of Nations disarmament conference in 1932. He worked as an Iron moulder by trade but became a popular Labour politician. known as 'Uncle Arthur' to his friends. In parliament he served as Leader of the Labour Party, Leader of the Opposition, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Chief Whip of the Labour Party, Home Secretary, Paymaster General and Minister without Portfolio, President of the Board of Education, and Member of Parliament (at various times) for Burnley, Clay Cross, Widnes & Newcastle on Tyne.
