As to security against pulling off, repeated trials have demon-strated that when mounted with the NB coupling the body ofthe hose has torn apart in every case, leaving the end of the hosestill attached to the fitting. The form of air brake and signal couplings and threaded nip-ples is the same as that in common use, so that there is nochange in standard so far as the couplings and car fittings areconcerned. NB hose and couplings can be mounted as quicklyand as easily as the presdit M. C. B. standard. This new coupling has the decided advantage of being prac-tically indestructible. All the parts can be used over and overagain, whereas with the present system it is always necessary tohave new bolts and nuts, and in most cases new bands for everymounting. Arrangements have been made with several of the largest hosemanufacturers to make this special end on the M. C. B. or in-dividual railroad specifications hose. It can also be obtainedfrom the manufacturers of the coupling if
