A flintlock shotgun, Johann Ulrich Mäntz, Brunswick, circa 1730. Two-stage barrel, octagonal changing to round after a baluster, with a smooth bore in 15 mm calibre, and a brass bead. Flintlock cut and engraved with hunting designs and bearing the signature, "ULRICH MANTZ" as well as a shield shaped mark "HMK" beneath the frizzen spring. Walnut full stock with a horn nose cap and brass furniture engraved in the Régence style. Horn-tipped wooden ramrod. Length 115 cm.
