Dagger wielded for a Ram Sacrifice.

Dagger wielded for a Ram Sacrifice, part of a relief fragment from Larymna, Greece. 5th Century BC. Sheep and goats appear frequently in the history of religions, from prehistoric times down to the present, and across a wide geographic area. Both appear most commonly as animals of sacrifice, but the ram and especially the goat have also served as symbols of sexual virility and so are often associated with fertility cults.
