An innate desire to cultivate self-reliance andself-support (thus dispensing with the burden of paternal main-tenance) induced him to migrate to Montrose, and, later, tomove down the Susquehanna River to the Wyoming Valley, SYNOPSIS OF THE LIFE OF JOHN W.
