Ilias Psinakis (right), the mayor of Marathon and the head of international public relations for the Central Union of Municipalities (KEDE), talks to the Governor of Attica, Rena Dourou (left) from SYRIZA (Coalition of the Radical Left). The Central Union of Municipalities called for a vigil outside the new Acropolis Museum for the return of the Elgin Marbles to Athens. The marbles from the Parthenon are held by the British Museum since their removal from Athens in the 19th century. The vigil coincides with the return of part of the marbles from the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, where they were on loan, to the British Museum.
