The 40-storey, 177 m high, neo-classical Roman Imperial Revival architecture Manhattan Municipal Building was built 1907-14. The 6 m high gilded statue of Civic Fame was placed at its top in 1913 and, symbolising New York's Five Boroughs, is the second largest statue in New York after the Statue of Liberty. On the right side of the shot , at 40 Foley Square, with a gilded terra-cotta pyramid roof, we see the 30-storey, 390 ft square tower of the Thurgood Marshall United States Courthouse, built in 1932.
