Dilophosaurus dinosaur at The Wyoming Dinosaur Center in Thermopolis, Wyoming, United States of America
Dilophosaurus was a therapod dinosaur from the Pliensbachian stage of the Early Jurassic Period. The name means 'two crested lizard' from the two crests of the animal. The first specimens were described in 1954, but it was not until over a decade laterthat the genus received its current is one of the earliest known Jurassic therapods, but also one of the least understood. It measured around twenty feet (six meters) lond and may have weighed half a ton.
