Light microscopy of a primate cerebellum. This organ has a highly infolded surface (staining yellow) that accommodates the very dense packing of neurons and non-nerve cells. This outer surface region is the molecular layer of the cerebellar cortex. Deep to it is the granular layer stained orange-brown. The cerebellum coordinates equilibrium, posture and balance in conjunction with muscle actions. Silver stain. Magnification x2 when printed at 10 cm.
