Georgia-Pacific's old Lumber Mill, Fort Bragg, California, USA. Georgia-Pacific acquired the mill in 1973 and closed it in 2002. High levels of dioxin, which causes cancer from prolonged exposure, are present on the mill. Georgia-Pacific donated 38 acres to the City of Fort Bragg back in 2005 and the CIty has purchased 35 additional acres and will be responsible, with funding from the California Coastal Conservancy, for any environmental remediation.
