Dinslaken, Voerde, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany - Emschermuendung into the Rhine. Construction site of the new Emscher river mouth in front of the decommissioned STEAG coal-fired power plant Voerde. The mouth of the Emscher into the Rhine will be relocated from Dinslaken to Voerde, almost 500 meters to the north. Fish will then be able to swim barrier-free up the new Emscher from the Rhine through a newly created floodplain. The Emscher has been completely free of wastewater since January 2022 following the construction of a parallel sewer. The river was previously an open, above-ground combined sewer with rainwater and wastewater. On the left, the old Emscher. On the right, the new Emscher main channel. Flood protection through wide outlet areas in the new river delta.
