This was due to the reaction that invariably sets in after the Bachelors' Cotillion, which was held Monday evening, De- cember 6. It usually takes the society world about a week to recover from the big event. It was a good thing, how- ever, that the demand did fall off, for with a curtailed demand, supply and demand were about balanced. Roses, which were forced as much as possible for this event, were cut closely, so that it took a few days for them to recover. What blooms are coming to the market are of fine quality—good flowers, stiff stems and clean foliage. More shorts might be used, for the demand is for funeral work. The outlook for roses for Christmas is that there will be a good normal crop.
