The Alte Kanzlei, The Old Chancellery. Built 1541-43 and used as the administrative building of the State. The water column on the corner of the building is topped with a gilt statue of the Roman God Mercury made by Ludwig van Hofer in 1862. The building now houses a popular restaurant serving German cuisine.
