Roses, carnations, sweet peas, colored stock, spiraeas and gladioli sold well, while snapdragons, valley, lilies, white stock and short trumpet narcissi went slowly. Thomas Roland has been receiving more roses of late than any other local grower. He had a heavy Memorial day cut. June 2 he had 12,000 and cleaned them up easily. His rose garden at the outdoor show is a magnificent one. C. T. Beasley & Co., of East Milton, the leading pansy specialists, state that sales were double those of a year ago. They had several thousand Darwin tu- lips, planted on a warm, sunny slope, that flowered on time. These realized $60 per thousand. F. J. Dolansky has received a large shipment of phala?nopsis from the Phil- ippines in excellent condition, and also a number of rare orchids from England. At present he has a fine lot of Cattleyas Mossiae and gigas, miltonias and odonto- glossums. Mrs. Winthrop Chanler, of New York, June 2 gave a splendid illustrated lec- ture on "Alpine Plants and Rock Gar- dens" at Horticultural hall, before an appreciative audience. The display of ornamental mains at the Arnold Arboretum was at its best June 5. The lilacs promise to be in good condition by June 10.
