The Black-Striped Hairtail butterfly, scientific name Anthene amarah. Butterflies are among the most familiar and popular of all insects. Kenya has about 559 recorded species and among these, 34 are endemic. East Africa is home to over 2,500 different species of butterflies. The richness and diversity of butterflies in East Africa is a great reflection of the diversity of habitats in the region.
