Bougainvillea glabra, lesser bougainvillea or paperflower picture taken in Malta, Mediterranean region.

This evergreen shrub is a commonly cultivated climbing plant. It's also called paperflower as the colorful leaves surrounding the small white flowers appear to be made out of paper. This ranking plant needs a well-drained soil, full sunlight and warm weather to grow, as it is quite sensitive to frost. It can be easily propagated through cuttings. This species can be found all around the Maltese Islands, where this picture was taken.
