A shrill yell from theleader announced they had reached thetop of Border Ruffian, and gazing throughthe semi-darkness they could see what they thought was the dim outline of acabin. Hurrying on as rapidly as pos-sible under the conditions, for all werenow suffering from hunger and cold,they reached what was surely enough acabin nearly buried by the snow. Soonthe door was found, but the snow haddrifted in and their immediate efforts. The Pacific Service camp at Blue Lalies, Alpine County, upon the shores of Lower Blue Lake. to pry it open met with stout the snowdrift with theirnumbed feet they soon had a hole dug,and by pulling and tugging they openedthe door barely enough to gain entrance;once inside they struck a match, anxiousto find out if there were any dry woodinside.
