A significant ceremonial Russian sword M 1798 with gold inlays, for officers of the Russian infantry, Master Hatchatur, between 1801 - 1824, The single-edged blade with double fullers and gold-inlaid, chiselled cartouches on both sides, these finely decorated with flowers and animal motifs, en suite floral decoration on the back of the blade. The obverse struck with the tsar's cypher "A I" (Alexander I), inlaid in gold surmounted by the tsarist crown, the maker's mark on the reverse.
