JEHAN GTIIR, or JEHANGUIRE,Aeul Nourkduin Moham-med,emperor of Hindostan, the son of Ak-bar, was originally named Selim. He suc-ceeded to the throne of Delhi in 1605, anddied in 1627. Jehanguirc was liberal, affa-ble, and accessible to his subjects, and a pa-tron of literature and arts. It was extendedto every part of the globe; and plauditsand lionoms were showered upon the dis-coverer from all quarters.
