Turtle conservation. Leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriacea) nest protected by a bamboo grill. The grill protects the turtle eggs from wild dogs. Turtles are wholly aquatic reptiles, the females only coming ashore to lay their eggs. The loss of nesting beaches and the effects of hunting and pollution have endangered some turtle species. Photographed in Kamiali, Lababia, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea.
