Michael Faraday (1791-1867). Statue of the British chemist and physicist Michael Faraday. Faraday's major work included suggesting the concepts of electric and magnetic fields, along with early work on the electric motor, induction, transformers, and the dynamo. He also popularised science with public lectures at the Royal Institution, London. This bronze statue was unveiled in Savoy Place outside the Institute of Electrical Engineers, London, UK, in 1989. It is a copy of a marble original (1876, Royal Institution) by the sculptors John Henry Foley and Thomas Brock. Faraday is depicted in academic robes holding his induction ring.
