The day started misty and cool but brightened up later in the day so by early evening unit 769448 was under blue skies as it has just passed the Crabtree Lane level crossing to the west of Burscough as it’s on its way back to Southport at This was hrs departure from Alderley Edge. These are electric multiple units that have been moved up from the south of the country and been reengineered with a diesel engine added to the electrical capability of the train.
