At all floral ex- hibitions, and when sent as cut flowers to the New York market, this plant attracts more at- tention than any other flower. It grows from four to six feet high; the flower spike is often five feet high, and the flower meas- ures twelve to fif- teen inches long, and twelve inches in circumference. They are a daz- zling scarlet, lower half of flower tinged with rich orange. A clump of these makes a striking show.
