Necrotising pancreatitis surgery. Laparascopic view of pancreatic necrosectomy surgery on a patient with necrotising pancreatitis. In this condition the pancreas tissue turns necrotic (is dead or dying) due to lack of blood supply or infection. In this case, it is due to pancreatitis, the inflammation of the pancreas. This is keyhole, or minimally invasive, surgery and is directed using a laparascope, a type of endoscope that is inserted through a small incision into the patient's abdomen.
