Espalier pear and apple tree frame what was once an old garden doorway into the walled vegetable garden of Rousham House in Oxfordshire, England

An espalier pear and apple tree either side of an opening into the vegetable garden, set within a high brick wall, of Rousham House in Oxfordshire. Flowers grow among the vegetable beds to attract pollinating bees and insects. The gardens at Rousham were created by William Kent (1685-1748) and are a fine example of early English landscape design and remain much as he left them.
